Garlic Cheese Biscuits

January 11, 2015

I talked my husband out of buying a boxed mix for the biscuits they serve at Red Lobster. I said – “Don’t do it! I’ll make them from scratch.” These aren’t quite identical, but there were certainly no complaints :). I think they beat a boxed mix any day.

cheesy garlic biscuits

1 ¾ cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
1/3 cup butter
¾ cup cold milk

Stir together flour, baking powder and salt.  Cut in butter with pastry blender.  Add milk.  Stir with fork.

1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tbsp parmesan cheese

Kneed for 5 minutes.  Press dough out to about ½ to ¾ inch thick on a lightly floured surface.  Cut using medium circle cutter.  Place on greased cookie sheet or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.  Brush tops of raw biscuits with garlic butter. (Or brush with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt.)

Bake at 425° for 12 minutes.  Broil tops just until golden brown.  (This only takes a few minutes, so keep your eye on them or they will burn.)  Makes about 12 biscuits.
