English Muffin Bread

A quick and easy bread that’s good for toasting. It’s kind of like an English muffin…


3 cups flour

1 pkg active dry yeast

1/8 tsp baking soda

1 cup milk

1/4 cup water

1/2 Tbsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

cornmeal or flour for dusting pan

Combine half the flour, the yeast, and the baking soda in a large bowl. Heat the milk, water, sugar and salt over the stove until warm (120 degrees F). Add liquid to flour mixture and mix well. Mix in the rest of the flour.

Put the dough into a greased loaf pan sprinkled with flour or cornmeal. Cover and let rise in a warm spot until double in size (about 45 min.). Bake at 400 degrees F for about 25 min or until golden. Remove loaf from pan immediately to cool on a wire rack.
